Google ‘What does the cabin filter do in my car?’ and you’ll get something like this:

‘Its job is to filter all of the air that comes through the car’s HVAC system to prevent pollutants, such as dust, pollen, smog and mold spores from entering. The filters can also catch rodent droppings, leaves and other unwanted debris.’  Ewww right??!!  By the way, the HVAC is your Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning system.

The fact is, many drivers don’t even know it exists.  We often hear of oil filters and fuel filters but who talks about the cabin filter?

How often should my cabin filter be changed?

Pollution inside the closed environment of your car  can be many time worse than the normal outside air, so it is important to replace your filter as a general rule every 30,000 km’s, but more frequently in harsher conditions. The cabin filter is a notable item on your Logbook service schedule.

Ask for a quote on changing your cabin filter next time you book in for your service and don’t forget to ask for before and after photos!  You’ll be amazed!! Or horrified!!
